Hi, fellow mamas! I'm Alex: first-time mama, wife, and speech language pathologist.
On November 24, 2017 at 7:44pm, my husband Warren and I welcomed our sweet baby girl, Camilla Jane Tanner, into the world. Life as we once knew it has certainly changed, but I could not be more grateful for what our new normal has become.
While the days and ESPECIALLY the nights have been long, in retrospect these past few months have truly gone by so quickly. Becoming a mother has changed my life tenfold. It has opened my eyes and my heart to the endless joy that a child brings. And I can honestly say that I have never felt more motivated to be the best version of myself in every single aspect. Motherhood has led me to discover ambitions and aspirations that I didn't even know that I had, which is where this blog comes in.
Never in a million years would I have thought that I'd feel compelled to start a blog, mostly due to lack of time, motivation, and content. And while life couldn't be busier these days, my daughter has inspired me to take a leap of faith and share my journey and my work with you. My hope is to create a safe space where, as a new mom, I can share and reflect on my own experiences with motherhood and hopefully have you feel comfortable in sharing your personal journey, too. At the same time, I hope to share my knowledge and insight as a speech therapist to provide guidance and helpful tips so that as a mama (or papa!), you can foster and develop your little one's language in functional and creative ways. After all, YOU are their greatest teacher.
So here I am, excited to share and embark on this motherhood journey with you! To learn more about my professional background click here. Thank you for stopping by! :)
Welcome to Mama Speech!
