My Little Family

Updated: Apr 4, 2018

We recently became a family of 3, and it's safe to say that Warren and I have become proud and giddy parents whose conversations now revolve around burps, swaddles, poop, and drool. This sort of talk probably can't go on for much longer (and should probably stay within the confines of our own home) if we plan on maintaining our friendships, or any sort of social life for that matter. But hey, we're only two months into this whole parenting thing, so we may still be able to bide our time and blame it on the fact that "we're first time parents." :-) Wow, we're parents; it still sounds kind of surreal even just saying it out loud. I don't think we realized how quickly and beautifully life could unfold. Even with the challenges and lessons that come with being parents, Warren and I truly could not be happier.

As you might have gathered, Warren is my (proudly Canadian, hockey-loving) husband. He is a 4th grade teacher, working in the South Bronx. He works in a charter school, and while the hours are long and the curriculum is rigorous, he still manages SOMEHOW to always come home with a smile. I could not be more grateful for him. He is not only my husband, but my best friend, my partner, and my rock.

Warren and I met back in 2012 when I was a young and impressionable graduate student. Perhaps it was his long, curly locks at the time or his leather jacket, but I'd say I was pretty love-struck when I met him. And although I don't believe in love at first sight, it came pretty darn close! I love to reminisce about our beginnings and mostly think back to the time when we shared our first kiss at a happening lower east side bar during arguably the most romantic song that one could think of....Teenage Dream by Katy Perry (haha). After a LONG and winding road, we got married on June 10, 2016, and a year and a half later, on November 24th at 7:44pm, we welcomed our beautiful daughter, Camilla Jane Tanner, into the world.

Camilla has brought so much joy, light, and love into our life. She is already full of personality, and it has been so amazing to see her transform and grow day after day. We adore everything about her. From her smiles and giggles and stinky toots (gets that from her daddy) to her grumpiness when hungry (gets that from her mommy); she makes us feel whole and complete.
